Cori Gonzalez-Macuer

7 Days regular and star of hit cult-classic film "What We Do In The Shadows", Cori Gonzalez-Macuer has been performing his own brand of self-deprecating, observational and deadpan comedy since 2003. In that time he's won the Billy T James Award, appeared on film and televsion, and performed in Australia, America, England, Scottland, Singapore and as far as the Middle East and South America.

Cori's 2016 NZ Comedy Festival show "Awesome? Nah, bro" was a sell out success and resulted in a tour to 21 NZ venues nationwide.

Born in Santiago, Chile Cori imigrated to Wellington, New Zealand with his family as a 6-year-old. He played representative soccer in NZ and returned to his native Chile after high school to train professionally, but sadly his career was cut short by injury. Football's pain is comedy's gain though and Cori returned home to NZ and discovered the stage. He did, however, return to his Chilen hometown to try out performing stand-up in Spanish for the first time - this was the subject of the documentary "Funny Roots".

In 2016 Cori was asked to do a TEDx speech on his personal experience with mental health and family tragedy. His speech "Out of the Shadows: My Fathers Suicide" was applauded as one of the most memorable, moving and important of the event.

Cori was invited to attend the prestigious Sundance Film Festival 2016 as part of the "What We Do In The Shadows" team, he then went on to perform in live comedy shows across New York and LA.

Most recently Cori has been writing, directing and acting in a web series for Attitude Pictures "Open Minds" and was the writer behind the viral internet sensation " Woman interrupted during BBC interview"

Whether it's on stage or screen, Cori's hilarious reluctance to accept a career in entertainment is quite possibly what has made him the great performer he is today.

Quite possibly the only show I'd return to for seconds" - Mac+Mae

"While his cynicism might make you think he is making lemons out of lemonade he does it in such a cool manner, standing alone with his mike, his great eyebrows adding emphasis, that you know he's speaking truths we all feel "Awesome Na, Bro" is comedy fest at its best." Theatreview
